Huntington Youth Court is a Specialized Project of the Huntington Youth Bureau where our core foundation is based off of Restorative Justice Principals. We serve as a positive alternative for youth who are between the ages of 13-18 and have either been suspended from school or have committed their first misdemeanor crime and are in the process of probation. Those youth have the opportunity to have their case heard and tried by a jury of their peers that are trained in every role and aspect of the courtroom and hand down sanctions based on our Restorative Justice Practice. Restorative Justice is the idea and practice of holding the respondent accountable for their actions, developing their skillsets and competencies, all while involving the community. The sanctions handed down by the volunteer youth may include Community Service, Counseling, Drug and Alcohol Prevention and Counseling, Jury Duty, Youth Court Workshop, Jail Tours and more.
